An NYPD officer was hospitalized with a head injury after a vehicle attempting to flee from police slammed into an NYPD van on Monday afternoon.

An “officer needs urgent help” request was broadcasted from Brigham Street in Sheepshead Bay after a fleeing vehicle slammed into an NYPD van just after 3PM on Monday afternoon.

One suspect was arrested and a second one is still at large, according to police. A police helicopter was seen overhead searching for the second suspect that fled the area on foot shortly after crashing into the van. Police say the suspect at large fled from the scene towards Knapp Street and Avenue Y.

The NYPD police officer sustained a head injury as a result of the crash and was transported to a local area hospital to be further evaluated.

At least one person was transported to the hospital after witnesses say the vehicle collided with multiple vehicles on Brigham Street.

There is currently no word on what the suspects were wanted for prior to the crash.
