North Amityville Home Destroyed By Early Morning Fire

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - Firefighters from six fire departments battled a fire that nearly engulfed an entire house on Bayview Avenue early Sunday morning. Two residents were able to escape injuries before the house went up in flames.

Firefighters from the North Amityville Fire Company responded to a large fire that broke out in a home on Bayview Avenue near Ronek Drive at about 3:20AM on Sunday morning.

After crews arrived on scene and began battling the flames, firefighters took a defensive mode. All firefighters were pulled out of the house to attack the fire from the outside.

Two residents were able to escape the house before it became engulfed in flames, according to Suffolk County Police.

The fire was brought under control and there were no reported injuries. The entire home was completely destroyed as a result of the fire.

Assistance was requested from the Copiague Fire Department, North Lindenhurst Fire Department, East Farmingdale Fire Company, Massapequa Fire Department, Amityville Fire Department, and Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
