New Jersey Man Arrested For Stealing Car In Garden City Park
GARDEN CITY PARK, NY - A New Jersey man was arrested for stealing a running car early Sunday morning in Garden City Park, New York.
According to Nassau County Police investigators, 3rd Precinct officers responded to 2234 Jericho Turnpike after a victim called 911 reporting their vehicle was stolen. The victim told police that their 1999 Honda was left running when a person entered it and drove away.
Shortly after, 3rd Precinct officers found the Honda parked in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 400 East Jericho Turnpike. Police officers placed Mohamed Elgendy, 31, of Piscataway into custody for driving off with the car without permission from the owner.
Further investigation led officers to find a glass pipe that Elgendy was in possession of. The pipe contained a white rock that is believed to be crack cocaine.
Mohamed Elgendy is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
Elgendy will be arraigned in the First District Court in Hempstead, New York when medically practical, according to police.
