Man Displays Weapon After Argument Over Beer At Roosevelt Convenience Store

ROOSEVELT, NY - A Roosevelt man was arrested after taking two twelve-packs of beer from a Roosevelt 7-Eleven early Sunday morning after the clerk told him they were not selling alcohol at the time.

Danefield Bourne, 42, of Roosevelt, entered the 7-Eleven convenience store at 420 Nassau Road in Roosevelt at around 5:38AM on Sunday morning. Bourne took two twelve-packs of beer from the shelf and approached the worker to purchase it. The worker informed Bourne that they were not selling alcohol at the time, which sparked Bourne to get into an argument with the clerk.

During the argument, the clerk noticed the handle of a weapon while Bourne was reaching in his back pocket. Bourne then fled from the store with the two twelve-packs without paying for the items.

Nassau County Police 1st Precinct officers responded and thoroughly searched the surrounding areas for the robbery suspect. Bourne was seen by officers in the vicinity of Anna Avenue and William Street and taken into custody without incident.

Bourne is charged with Robbery 3rd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree. He was arraigned on Monday at the First District Court in Hempstead, New York.
