Long Beach Boardwalk Reopens Under New COVID-19 Restrictions
The City of Long Beach reopened its famous boardwalk early Thursday morning under new restrictions for residents and visitors.
After temporarily closing amid the coronavirus pandemic, the City of Long Beach reopened its boardwalk early Thursday morning to residents and visitors.
Residents and visitors of the famous boardwalk are reminded by the City of Long Beach Police Department’s Special Police Force to maintain social distancing and wear a mask. According to strict new guidelines about visitation of the boardwalk, individuals who are not wearing a mask will be asked to leave the boardwalk.
Additionally, bicycle riding will be strictly enforced by the Special Police and Police officers of Long Beach to allow people walking to spread out and stay at least six feet apart from each other. Bicycle riding is allowed on the boardwalk between sunrise and 10am. Beyond that, residents will be asked to ride their bicycles in the streets or off of the boardwalk itself.
Long Beach Special Police were seen speaking to multiple residents about not wearing masks and riding bicycles throughout the stretch of boardwalk. Many individuals could be seen complaining to the Special Police about people not social distancing or wearing masks.
According to sources, enforcement of wearing masks has been effective, but difficult due to non-compliant people utilizing the boardwalk.
