Homeless Man Arrested For Offensive Graffiti In Port Jefferson Station

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY - A homeless man was arrested by Suffolk County Police after drawing swastikas and other hate messages on a Port Jefferson Station shopping center.

Suffolk County Police announced on March 9 that they arrested Carl Vario, 51 at approximately 1:50PM for the hate messages and swastikas he drew at two separate locations.

Police say Vario drew the first offensive images at 518 New York 112 on March 4th at 8:00AM. Police found similar graffiti on a kiosk near the Greenway Trail on March 5th at around 12:00PM.

Hate Crimes Unit detectives took Vario into custody and charged him with two counts of Aggravated Harassment First Degree and two counts of Making Graffiti.
