Hempstead Man Arrested For Robbing 3 Nassau County Banks

HEMPSTEAD, NY - A Hempstead man was arrested and charged on Tuesday in connection with three bank robberies in Mineola, Merrick, and Garden City over the past few days earlier this month.

Police say Loreto Ferri, 49, of Hempstead, was arrested after an investigation led detectives to identify him. He was taken into custody on Tuesday.

Officials say that Ferri robbed the Roslyn Savings Bank in Merrick on February 9th, the Citi Bank in Mineola on February 12th, and the People’s United Bank in Garden City on February 14th.

During all three robberies, Ferri handed the teller a note demanding money and then fled.

Ferri faces charges of 1st Degree Robbery and two counts of 2nd Degree Robbery. He was arraigned on Wednesday at the First District Court in Hempstead, New York.
