Glen Cove Police Urge Residents to Lock Their Doors Amid Suspicious Person Call

After a report of a suspicious person entering a home in Glen Cove, New York, police are urging residents to lock their doors.

The Glen Cove Police Department received a 911 call on October 19th at around 9:30PM for a report of a suspicious person on Valentine Street in Glen Cove, New York. Police responded to the area and were told by a resident that an unidentified man knocked on her door, entered the home and immediately began walking upstairs to the second floor.

The man, who claimed he was an electrician that was called to the house, was confronted and asked to leave by the resident. The suspicious man exited the house and entered a white van that had no side windows, no roof racks and it’s rear tail lights/ brake lights were high up on the rear of the van.

“Residents are encouraged to keep their doors locked and to never let anyone enter their home unless they know who the individual is. Never let anyone into your home that is trying to sell you a service or claims to be from a repair service unless you called them.” Glen Cove Police request residents to use caution and call 911 if there is a unrequested person attempting to enter your home claiming to work on utilities.

The man is described as a male with a medium complexion, dark combed back hair, dark eyes and approximately 6 feet tall, according to police. The resident also stated to police that the man spoke with a middle eastern accent.
