Firefighter Hurt, House Destroyed In Massive Blaze on Long Island

Multiple fire departments responded to Columbus Boulevard in North Amityville, New York for a massive fire that completely destroyed a home under renovation late Sunday night.

Multiple emergency service agencies responded to Columbus Boulevard for reports of a fire in a home that was under construction. Upon arriving on the scene, crews immediately began to attempt to prevent the spread of the large fire that quickly engulfed the entire home. The North Amityville Fire Company and other mutual aid departments attempted to save the structure.

The entire house was completely destroyed by the massive blaze, and had to be bulldozed by a payloader as a result of the extent of the fire.

At least one firefighter was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries after battling the destructive fire.

There is no word on what caused the fire at this time. Arson investigators are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the blaze.

The home was vacant and under construction at the time the fire broke out.
