Employee Thwarts $1,200 Wire Theft At Commack Home Depot

COMMACK, NY - A Home Depot employee thwarted a $1,200 theft of wire from the Commack store on February 10th. Now Suffolk County Police are searching for the would-be thief.

Suffolk County Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man behind an attempted theft of $1,200 of wire from the Commack Home Depot located at 5025 Jericho Turnpike. Police say the attempted theft occurred back on February 10th when the suspect entered the store and left without paying for the wire.

A Home Depot employee confronted the would-be thief in the parking lot and the man left the wire behind, fleeing in his blue Subaru Forester with gold New York license plates.

Police described the man as 6’2” tall and about 190lbs. He is wanted for grand larceny.

Police ask anyone with information about the larceny to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous. A cash reward is also being offered to the person who provides information that leads to the suspect being arrested.
