Car Fire Spreads to Long Island Apartment During Nor'easter

A car fire quickly spread to an apartment during the Nor’easter early Thursday afternoon in Syosset, New York.

Firefighters from at least 3-4 Long Island fire departments responded to Berry Hill Road in Syosset, New York at around 12:46pm Thursday afternoon for multiple 9-1-1 calls of a car fire in the driveway of a Syosset residence.

After arriving on the scene, emergency services found a vehicle that caught fire against the detached garage. Fire crews worked hard to quickly stop the spread by using foam to fight the gasoline fire. The fire sparked with a car in the driveway that was parked up against the garage with an apartment over it. Flames quickly spread into the eaves of the garage and apartment. Firefighters worked hard to prevent a devastating spread into the structure during the tail end of the Nor’easter that impacted the Long Island communities and dropped up to a foot of snow in some areas.
