Driver Killed In 7-Vehicle Plainview Crash

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. – A medical emergency behind the wheel led to a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, injuring several people and leaving one person dead.

Around 2:00 PM, first responders were dispatched to Old Country Road near Sylvia Lane after a driver had suffered a medical episode while driving and collided with numerous vehicles. According to witnesses, the driver collided head-on with at least one vehicle, causing significant damage.

In total, seven vehicles were involved in the crash, which resulted in the closure of all eastbound lanes on Old Country Road.

Six people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident. First responders were seen administering CPR to one of the injured drivers at the scene.

A 71-year-old driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced deceased by a hospital physician.
