2 Injured After SUV Slams Into Truck On Long Island Expressway

NORTH HILLS, NY - Two people were injured after their Honda SUV slammed into the back of a tractor trailer on the Long Island Expressway near New Hyde Park Road late Saturday night.

Heavy rescue crews responded to the Long Island Expressway going westbound, just east of New Hyde Park Road just before 11:00PM on Saturday night. A Honda CR-V was traveling westbound when it rear-ended a tractor trailer, seriously injuring both a driver and a passenger inside the SUV.

At least one person was pinned inside the SUV and had to have firefighters cut them out. According to sources at the scene, it is reported that at least one of the victims were unconscious when emergency medical services and firefighters reached them.

The Long Island Expressway is currently shut down at Exit 34 going westbound as officials investigate the serious collision.
