19-Year-Old DWI Bentley Driver Causes Fatal Collision with Polaris Slingshot in Massapequa

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. – A 19-year-old driving a Bentley SUV was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and DWI, among other charges, after causing a fatal three-car crash involving a Slingshot motorcycle late Saturday night.

According to Nassau County Police, at around 9:00PM, a 19-year-old driving a 2023 Bentley SUV attempted to make a right turn onto Unqua Road while traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway—from the left turn lane across four lanes of traffic.

While making the dangerous, sudden maneuver, the 19-year-old driver collided with a three-wheel Polaris Slingshot motorcycle, sending it careening into a KIA SUV and a nearby utility pole.

The operator of the Slingshot, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Sources at the scene report that first responders worked tirelessly, administering CPR in an attempt to save the victim's life while transporting him to the hospital.

A female passenger riding in the Slingshot was also seriously injured and remains in a critical condition, according to officials.

Police say that inside the KIA SUV were four children and two adults. None of the occupants in the KIA were injured.

The driver of the Bentley and his passenger were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Nassau County Police have charged the Bentley operator, Brian Romero Guy August, 19, with a slew of charges, including vehicular manslaughter, assault, and driving while intoxicated (DWI). He is currently being held at the hospital and will face a judge once medically cleared.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the fatal, tragic crash.

Sunrise Highway was completely shut down as a result of the collision investigation, but has since fully reopened since 8:30AM Sunday morning.
