18-Year-Old Struck by Port Authority Bus in West Oakland

An 18-year-old was struck by a Port Authority transit bus in the West Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh early Monday afternoon.

Multiple departments responded to the intersection of 5th Avenue and McKee Place in the West Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh on Monday afternoon after an 18-year-old was struck by a Port Authority transit bus. Upon arriving on the scene, University of Pittsburgh Police and Port Authority Police found a man with a head injury after being struck by the transit bus.

Pittsburgh Paramedics treated the 18-year-old for a head injury at the scene of the collision and transported the victim to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in a critical, but stable condition.



According to witnesses on the scene, paramedics were able to control the bleeding of the laceration to the victims head before transporting them to the medical center for further treatment and evaluation.

Authorities are investigating the events that led up to this incident at this time. No criminality is expected, although the investigation is ongoing.
