1 Hurt In Copiague House Fire

COPIAGUE, NY - A house fire on Oak Street left one person injured late Tuesday night as firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to a nearby second house.

At around 8:54PM, the Copiague Fire Department responded to a reported bedroom fire inside of a house on Oak Street, just east of Great Neck Road in Copiague, New York. Firefighters arrived on scene and confirmed that it was a working fire.

Flames were seen shooting out of the west side of the house, causing a minor extension of the fire to a second house immediately next door. Fire crews battled the blaze inside the initial residence and prevented it from spreading fully to the other home. The flames were able to affect the neighboring home easily due to how close in proximity they sat on the properties.

The fire was brought under control at around 9:43PM.

One civilian was transported to a local area hospital with injuries suffered as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
