PITTSBURGH, P.A. (Jan 28, 2022) - Ten people were injured, including first responders attempting to rescue trapped motorists, after the Fern Hollow Bridge collapsed. Six vehicles driving on the bridge plummeted into the ravine below. Rescuers formed a human chain to remove occupants trapped on a transit bus. The major collapse caused a serious gas leak that prompted evacuations of nearby homes. The collapse came just hours before President Biden was set to deliver a speech about his $1 trillion infrastructure law, which allocated approximately $1.6 billion for Pennsylvania bridge maintenance.
OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. (Jan 10, 2021) - First responders from more than a dozen departments arrived on scene after a plane crashed into a Town of Oyster Bay Solid Waste Complex facility. The plane went down, crashing through guardrails and fences, after attempting to return to Republic Airport while experiencing issues while in flight. The sole occupant piloting the aircraft was pinned inside after the violent crash.
SYOSSET, N.Y. (Feb 14, 2023) - Firefighters battled a large fire fueled by compressed natural gas involving multiple garbage trucks in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Syosset Highway yard on Tuesday evening. Flames shot as high as 20 feet into the air. The intensity of the fire began to increase and spread to other fire trucks parked nearby. A total of four trucks were destroyed as a result of the blaze.
PLAINVIEW, N.Y. (Sept 17, 2023) - Firefighters from at least nine fire departments in the area responded to battle a fierce house fire on Lillian Lane late Sunday afternoon. The blaze left one home completely destroyed and two others damaged. The fire broke out in the vacant Plainview residence at around 3:00 PM on Sunday and rapidly engulfed the entire structure within only minutes, according to witnesses.
Lamborghini Crash On Long Island Injures 2
HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (Dec 27, 2020) - Two people were injured following a collision involving a Lamborghini on Jericho Turnpike near Cager Place, police say. The drivers of a Honda CRV and the Lamborghini were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The force of the crash left both vehicles totaled.
Reported Shots Fired At LIU Post, Reports Unfounded
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec 7, 2022) - After 3:00PM, the Brookville Police Department and Nassau County Police Department responded to reports of multiple shots fired on the campus of LIU Post. According to witnesses, multiple loud bangs were heard, which sparked panic in the area of Post Hall. Responding police officers and Campus Public Safety set up a perimeter and conducted a room-to-room search of the building and confirmed that there were no victims or evidence of shots fired.

MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. (Dec 28, 2021) - A 58-year-old man was pulled from the basement of the East Lake Avenue home after being rescued by firefighters. Two other occupants of the home were able to make it out on their own as the intense flames began to engulf the house. The two occupants who managed to escape were transported to a local area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
LINDENHURST, N.Y. (Apr 12, 2023) - Police say that a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck when crashed into a parked car in front of 21 Lido Parkway in Lindenhurst at around 11:40PM and lost its front tire. The intoxicated driver continued driving on the tire rim, causing sparks to catch the pickup truck on fire near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and South 4th Street. The driver then ditched the pickup as it became engulfed in flames, police say. He returned to the scene shortly after fleeing and surrendered to police officers.
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Feb 19, 2023) - Two occupants of a pickup truck were able to escape serious injuries after their vehicle flew over a guardrail and collided with a tree, saving them from dropping at least 20 feet onto a service road below. Firefighters and the Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Unit were able to stabilize the truck and assist both occupants with getting out of the vehicle safely. Three people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fiery Plane Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Critically Injured In Long Island Neighborhood
NORTH LINDENHURST, N.Y. (Mar 5, 2023)- A fiery small plane crash in a residential neighborhood left one person dead and two others on board with critical injuries on Sunday afternoon after crashing just feet away from a backyard playset. Officials say that the single-engine Piper PA 28 took off from Republic Airport with three people onboard at 2:18PM. A short time later, the pilot sent out a mayday signal and advised that there was smoke inside the aircraft’s cockpit.

Tanker Explodes After Flipping Over, Destroys Multiple Buildings In RVC
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Feb 16, 2022) - Numerous fire departments from across Nassau County responded to the intersection of Merrick Road and S Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre after a tanker truck carrying approximately 9,000 gallons of gasoline crashed, exploded and caught on fire. Witnesses say the explosion happened just after 1:10AM, many of which were woken up by the blast that rocked their homes.
LEVITTOWN, N.Y. ( Nov 13, 2021) - Multiple tornadoes slammed Long Island late Saturday afternoon after a heavy storm moved through the area. Multiple communities have started picking up the pieces. Just before 3:00PM on Saturday, a tornado warning was issued for western Nassau County as powerful storms moved through the area. A few residents in Levittown, New York stated that they saw a funnel cloud moving through the area as the winds picked up and rain was coming down sideways.
Intense Late Night Fire Destroys Plainedge Home
PLAINEDGE, N.Y. (Mar 11, 2022) - Firefighters battled an intense house fire late Friday night in Plainedge. Firefighters rushed to a home near the intersection of Cheryl Lane North and East Cheryl Lane at around 11:12PM on Friday night. When crews arrived on scene, the house was mostly involved in flames. Witnesses say the fire was possibly caused by exploding oxygen tanks inside the home.
