Child Airlifted From Sunrise Highway After Car Strikes Bicycle
A child was injured and airlifted from Sunrise Highway after a car struck a bicycle in Massapequa, New York on Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, just west of Unqua Road in Massapequa, New York just before 4PM for a report of a child struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.
The child was airlifted from the scene by a Nassau County Police helicopter that made a landing on Sunrise Highway near the scene.
The extent of the injuries is currently unknown at this time, but according to sources on the scene, the child is in a stable condition.
Sunrise Highway was temporarily closed in both directions in the area of the Unqua Road intersection.
