17-Year Old Killed In Fatal Old Westbury Transit Bus Crash

OLD WESTBURY, NY - A 17-year old was killed and a bus driver was pinned inside a transit bus after a two-vehicle collision on Glen Cove Road late Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Glen Cove Road and Hewlett Drive at around 2:50PM after a crash involving a NICE bus and a sedan occurred.

When crews arrived on the scene, the driver of the transit bus was trapped inside and had to be extricated. The 17-year old teenage driver of a 2019 BMW that was involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year old suffered severe head and body trauma, according to police.

According to investigators, the BMW crossed over the median and struck the NICE bus.

The 63-year old bus driver suffered minor injuries and is in a stable condition. There were no passengers on the bus at the time.

The investigation into the fatal crash is still underway.
